Oil Change interval ?
Just bought a 2010 elantra touring gls and after reading the owners manual I'm a little confused I when to change the oil. How many miles do you guys & gals normally wait to change your oil, 3500/7500 miles?
Thanks

Personally, I think that's overkill. Modern conventional oils can easily last 5,000 miles and synthetics 10,000 miles. Unless you drive 100% city, stop-n-go traffic in high heat weather with lots of idling, you're wasting oil and money changing too soon.

Thanks guys for the responses. My brother has a 2014 Elantra with the 2l motor too and he said he gets his done every 5K miles and has the tires rotated too. We don't do a lot of city driving at all. The dealer I purchased the car from has 3500 miles between changes. I do all my oil changes so I may opt to 5K between changes mostly due to the type of driving we do.
Thanks again.

I agree that the synthetic oils can last 10K..wtith the only caution being in the quality of the filter. I have a RAV4 with the 10K interval. After LOTS of deliberation and research, I'm following it and will have my first of two free changes next week. I'm old school so this was a hard call.
