Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default 2003 Elantra rims

I went to replace my tires today, as the front passenger tire was split. However, only the front tires could be replaced due to my back rims being bent. I must have driven over some bad potholes or curbs(the roads here are terrible). So I called the dealership and they said that the rims have to be ordered and should arrive next week. Here is the question, are these new rims aluminum or steel? The ones on now are steel, that I can tell. And if these rims are so bent, why haven't I felt anything different in the car's handling?

hi, i think the rims a steel but a cheap one, i have had problem with my rims, there bent. U won't feel it (or u will fill a little bit) if the bent rim is in the rear(back). If the rim is in front then u will fill some vibration or bouncing filling coz a lot is going on in front (CV joint and turning). In my case apart from port holes i think those tire people exchanged and gave me someone else rim coz two of the bolts are not the same as the rest of my bolts (so pay close attention when u take u car for tire rotation or when ur replacing tires. If u keep on buying the same rims after sometime u may have the same problems. unless u dig u pocket and buy some reel rims.

I have been looking into new rims, I am trying to stay away from buying directly from the dealer - but I am worried I won't find a reliable alternative!

Hey guys, if you goggle for "steel auto rims" or "steel auto wheels" you'll find lots of internet sources for replacement steel rims. It looks like a 15 inch replacement rim for an Elantra is presently running $65 to $70 before shipping. If you are looking for alloy wheels, I suggest http://www.tirerack.com/. If you want to spend less money, check out a local salvage yard. Just make sure you inspect the rims closely (simply roll it across a level floor) to avoid buying another bent rim.

Actually there are two models, one with 16" rims, leather interior and another with fabric interior and 15" rims. 5 hole as well.

The 2003 Elantra owner's manual documents only one tire size (P195/60R15) requiring a 15" rims (see page 9-1). Why would you suggest to vanhelsin that he go shopping for a 16" rim?
