Default Replacing CV shafts on 05 manual trans

I have a 2005 Elantra GT with a manual transmission and 140K miles. When turning at slow speeds I hear a rather loud clicking/ popping noise from the driver side front end. I am suspecting that the CV joints are going out. Does that sound correct?

If so, I have watched a couple of videos on replacing the entire shaft assembly. I would like to know if there is anything in particular that i need to watch out for? It looks like the shaft just pulls out of the trans and you simply line up the splines and push it in with some force to replace it. It also looks like the stabilizer link and lower ball joint have to be removed so you can get the shaft out of the wheel hub.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
