HELP!!!! My keyless entry remote is not working and when I try to unlock the door with the key the alarm goes off and it will not let me start the car!

It is an 02 Santa Fe. I called the dealership and the service dept is not there until Monday. The guy told me to try locking it with the key and then unlocking it again, this did not work. He then said try to reset the battery and if that does not work I will have to have it towed it. It is 2 1/2 hrs to the dealership!!!

Can anyone help me???

 

Open the door, get in and turn the key to the ON position but do not start the car. Wait until teh alarm stops (that may be a minute or two). When the alarm stops, try to start the car. This "USUALLY" works.

 

THis worked like a charm!! Thank you so much, so saved me a couple hundred dollar tow to the dealership!!
