Default Accent p1401 code

I wonder if anyone has the definitive answer on what the remedy is for this code on a 2003 Accent. There seems to be numerous ideas on the net, from the code not existing to a dm-tl air pump motor current draw is higher or lower than expected (normal = 17-36 ma). If the later is correct, could someone tell me what and where this air pump motor is located.

The diagnosis module comprises an electromechanically driven pump together with a change-over valve and heater. The engine management system measures the pump's electrical current consumption while pumping air into the canister and fuel tank to check the system's leakage. If the electrical current consumption is over the threshold value specified before in the memory, this means that there is a tank-system leak.

Thanks for the info and the picture. Seeing as it is associated with the fuel tank, I assume that it is somewhere near the tank? Anyhow I will have a look for it. Thanks again for the info.

The square thing in the graphic is the charcoal canister. It's usually tucked up underneath the rear fender skirt on the driver's side, just in front of the rear bumper. Here is another graphic showing the relative relationship of the whole Evap Emmission Control System.

In my case I used my Scan Tool and reset the code. It hasn't returned since that time.

Pretty easy,, have new part in hand, and un-bolt & unplug accordingly to to place old part in your hand.. It's under the car at left rear along with the evap canister.

Without functioning DMTL, the car will not complete an EVAP self test, so on comes the MIL.

I'm not familiar with some of these terms, what is the MIL? and if I replace the DMTL will the p1401 code go away?
