Rear Engine oil seal

Default Rear Engine oil seal

Hi guys, when replacing my oil seal at the rear main crankshaft it has gone back slightly probably a mm or maybe 1.5.. pictures included although not that clear.. is this a problem and do i need to replace it again for a new one as i cant get the new one out again without damaging it.. or will it be ok as it is.
any help would be appreciated..

You might get away with it as it is, but if there is no wear ring on the crank surface, I would remove the seal and install another new one to the correct location.

If there isn't enough sealing surface on the outer side of the seal, you could be doing the job again when it begins to leak.

Ok so a i bought a new seal, hopefully this one will do the trick..
