2000 Hyundai Elantra power steering high pressure hose issues
SOMEONE PLEASE !!! PLEASE !!! PLEASE !!! HELP ME !!! I’m in the process of replacing the power steering pump high pressure hose on my dads 2000 Hyundai Elantra but I can only get the new hose to turn a couple of times in the treads then it won’t go any further and I just can figure out the problem meanwhile he and my mom are in their 70’s and he has to care for my mom and having his car drivable is a must so can anyone shed some light on this issue ... thanks ... Hi Roger,
When you compare the nut on the replacement hose to the same end as the one you removed , are the lengths of the nuts and thread the same AND if the replacement hose has std fitting thread and your vehicle requires Metric thread , it will not work. Let us know what you find, thanks.

One problem with threads is that sometimes they can be cross threaded.
Meaning is the threads on the two mating pieces were put together improperly
This has the effect of only letting a few turns happen and then stuck
It will not stop fluid from leaking out and has the tendency to destroy the threads
Thus making it impossible to use the hose
It does not happen always. So, it may still be possible you can fit it on.
Note: Hanky has got a point about checking the thread size (threads per inch).

I think "avisitor" has brought up a very important point.
The better way to install any hydraulic fitting is to start it manually and turn it until finger tight, then complete the installation with the proper tool to the correct position and tightening torque, If torque wrench is aavilable and most times it isn';t !

Thanks for the help and I passed it on to him and finally he got it on so THANKS A TON !!! After getting it threaded on and it won’t go any further he noticed that there was a couple threads left showing and wants to know if that is normal when installing a power steering pump replacement hose ??? he also said he made sure that it’s not cross threaded on there ... thanks ... GOD BLESS !!!
