Default General Hyundai A/C Question

I drive a Santa Fe (SM), however, this question would cover any Hyundai
model, I believe.

Attached find a photo of two Schrader valves, one is a Hyundai part
from the high pressure port and the other is a JRA type valve from the
local Orielly's part store. I am told the high and low pressure ports use
the same part number.

Question: Has anyone successfully changed out a Hyundai schrader with
a JRA aftermarket one?

There are some obvious differences in the parts, length, o-ring size and
basic design of the valve. They do have the same OD and thread pattern.
I have called the dealer and the parts man gave me the number, however,
when I asked him what type the valve was, he didn't know. I have
scoured the FSM's and Googled the He** out of the subject and am not
sure about the Hyundai design.

Does anyone know if they actually design their own AC parts? Seems a
bit odd to me, however, after seeing the two parts side by side and looking
at the design, I am beginning to wonder. I am not going to evacuate or
try to charge the system for a few days and that is why I am posing the
question above. If one of you guru's would like to comment, I would like
your experienced answer and while you are at it, who would you
recommend I contact for an aftermarket replacement? The bottom line
here is: Dealer price $12 each, aftermarket $2.50

I would anticipate that all the Kia and Hyundai owners would all have the
same concern here. Thank you for any assistance.

I contacted several vendors for a cross reference that I might use to take an OEM
A/C part number and cross it to theirs. Santech was the only company that replied
with a positive answer. In fact, I was given a password: ab73efui You can go to
Santech.com and logon with that password. There you will find a great number of
aftermarket A/C parts for all models. I have permission to share the PW, so do not
get nervous about this. In this example, I was given a dealer OEM part number: 9781222301 and this crossed to a Santech number: MT0035 There was a good photo
of the part so I knew it was the right one.
You will not be able to buy direct from Santech, however, Autozone carries their
product line and you will see where many Amazon and Ebay marketeers list Santech
parts. I posted this note to demonstrate that if you use aftermarket parts that cost
$3 each and the dealer gets $12.50, you might save a little money in your repair. If
you get the itch to change out the schrader valves in your A/C, you can find them
listed as "Valve Core Replacements". Oh, if you dabble with Autozone's website, you
will find A/C parts listed in two areas: Heating and Cooling as well as Climate Control.
I hope this information helps you with aftermarket A/C sources of supply.
