Default PO441 Error Code

Hoping someone can help shed some light on this strange problem with my 2011 Elantra Touring. The engine light has been on for a few months now and when I connect the scanner it gives me this code;

PO441- Evaporative Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow.

Strange thing is after I get gas the car turns over for about 5 seconds before it starts. Then it works great until I get gas again. Anyone ever have this problem and know what's causing it?

Evap emission system tries to prevent Hydrocarbons from venting into the atmosphere.
When you fill up, the gasoline goes into the tank and air/hydrocarbons flows out.
To prevent the hydrocarbons from flowing out, the air is passed through a charcoal canister that absorbs the hydrocarbons.
Later, when the engine is running at higher rpm (such as on highways), the air get suck through the charcoal canister.
And the hydrocarbons are released into the engines in take.

There are two valves which control flow of the air and hydrocarbons.
One near the canister is called a vent valve and is normally open
It closes when the ECU wants to test the evap system.
The other valve is near the in-take or the throttle body.
It is called the purge valve and is normally closed
It opens when the engine is running at higher rpm to suck the hydrocarbons into the engine to burn them up.

Incorrect flow means that the purge valve is commanded to open and the ECU doesn't sense enough flow of air (pressure or vacuum).
There are many causes. The vent valve is stuck closed.
The purge valve doesn't open. Gas cap is loose.
The hoses are worn and leaking
The charcoal canister is clogged
A gas sensor or pressure sensor is faulty

When filling the the gas tank, it is important to not over fill after the pump stops.
This can cause gasoline to flood the charcoal canister and clog it.
Common issue is either or both the valves do not work.

A good mechanic with a higher level scanner can test the system and find out what is wrong.
Depending upon your car's year, make and model ... the cost of repair can go from modest to very expensive.
Usually modest. Good luck.
