Rough running 2001 Santa Fe and P0301
My sons are home from college for Thanksgiving and tonight the car started accelerating rough and the check engine light came and went (out). The code stored was P0301. I am going to start replacing plugs/wires tomorrow when the parts place opens, but this problem is weird that you can feel it come and go as the car accelerates... almost feels like the car is doing something that is causing it, since you can change gas pedal position and make the problem go away. Car idles smooth and seems to run smooth when you get to cruising speed. To me, that does not sound like a ignition problem. Any help will be appreciated.
Also, the car has thrown the 'insufficient EGR flow code in the past... I do not think it is related, as the code has been clear for awhile. Just adding in case I am not thinking about something.
Thanks,

New plugs is the logical place to start. Wires are next. It's quite possible that the problem is intermittant, and only happens under certain conditions. It's not like the old days with mechanical points and carburators anymore.
Insufficient EGR flow probably means there's a leak someplace.

Well, I can't figure it out, but plugs and wires made the problem go away. There has to be more on ignition theory that I have yet to be taught, but this is the most sensitive vehicle I have owned as far as tune up issues go. But when the cost is so little, it's okay. Thanks for your reply.
