Default Troubleshooting Feedback

Hi All,

My 2002 Sonata (102,000 miles) has been sputtering and not performing well lately. I used a OBD scanner and it came up with p0305 and p0274.

P0274 Cylinder 5 Injector Circuit High
P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected

I proceeded to change out the plugs and wires, the plugs had a lot of carbon on them and the ceramic was all but gone. After the tuneup, the car started better, but it still ran rough and applying gas made it sputter.

I now am considering changing out the coil pack and/or mass air flow sensor, and have a couple questions.

1. How difficult is the coil pack to change out?
2. Do these two steps (coil pack and air flow sensor)seem reasonable?
3. Any tips or advice?

Thanks,
Kelly

Default RE: Troubleshooting Feedback

After going back under the hood and pulling the plenum off and disconnecting all the fun things that go along with accessing the injectors (and plugs). I tested the resistance of the injector (cylinder #5 injector)across the injector terminals and it fell in the normal range, however I did notice that one of the wires on the injector connector was pulled out a little. I pushed it back and made sure the contact was actually visible when looking into the plug, and it was.

I plugged it back, started the car, it now purrs and does not sputter. So far so good, no error code.

Quick question what goes into changing out an injector? Do you actually have tounbolt the fuel bar above it and pull it off or out? Can someone give me some quick instructions, I am just curious.

Thanks.
