Have a 19 Gdi with 6sp. Bit of a noise like a piece of rubber caught around d/shaft, Local Hyundai garage wouldn't entertain even looking at it for 3 weeks, and then said that after diagnosis they'd THEN rebook me for whatever work was needed. Developed into a lot more as the days wore on until I saw gear oil dripping out from an oblong hole about 1" where g/box joins engine block. Another Hyundai dealer where I bought it new suggested getting it out and bringing to a g/box centre for recon but I had a bad experience before with another g/box recon so loath to go that route. That dealer is saying theyll take it in as a breakdown and do it as quick as they can...but basically this isnt good for a 19 model that SHOULD be good for many years...and if it's a known issue Hyundai should replace the faulty g/boxes...?
Even the most expensive vehicles have service departments because things do go south.
We have no idea at this time if your vehicle has a problem from anything you did or did not do.
Driving habits and lack of proper maintenance cause more problems than just plain worn out parts.
We don't know at this time if the oil leak is engine oil from the rear engine seal or trans lube.. Did you check to verify the oil level is going down or the level of lube in the trans has dropped.
If you cannot do this ,you might have any shop check these two things and you would have a better idea of what might need to be done and how soon.
If you decide to have a shop just check these 2 items , please post the answer obtained here and we might be able to offer some suggestions that could provide some peace of mind.

Its definitely gear oil, 190k km on it, 1 driver from new with combination of city/motorway, never had a clutch done. The tray under the engine had some alloy swarf mixed in with the gear oil. Current situation looks like a new box needed because the other time/labour£££ consuming options would be 1) box removal and check and recondition if poss. c.600 2) s/h box from a crashed one with no guarantee of mileage or internal damage and it could go again c.1000 so 3) new expensive box fitted by dealer with hopefully a guarantee...c2000+
Most gearboxes don't have a front seal. If the trans was over filled and it of course expands when heated that lube has to go someplace and the one place is out the front when parked, .
I don't believe any overhaul of the trans will solve the problem.
There may be some wear in the parts the trans bolts up to though. Only a thorough examination of those parts can provide any possible answer.
No word back from the service Dept yet....as the cops here run i40 and Tucsons they'll get priority first for any emergency repairs...and I've noticed Hyundai give different warranties to commercial/ private users..commercial drivers just clock up the mileage quicker than private users, but it seems Hyundai don't trust their vehicles enough to give commercial users Unlimited mileage warranty....they sell a lot in Korea as taxis..but still only give 100k miles
..?
Did you get a chance to find if any other manufacturers offer warranties different from Hyundai?
'America's best warranty' 10years/100,000mile powertrain .... best in the business, but the dealer says my synchro broke up, and "it's common enough" so therefore that is a manufacturers defect..problem is proving it in court etc... Best answer is just treat cars as disposable, not meant to last. Wonder what sort of treatment police forces get, ours actually crush their Hyundais at 180,000 miles and now I know why....
There is an old expression, "You get what you pay for", IF lucky !
If Hyundai is one of the lowest price vehicles you can buy, could that explain some of the problem?
As far as warranties go, some require you to take your vehicle only to approved places for repair and then some require some crazy proof before covering some repairs.
Suggest any person anticipating purchasing any type warranty, check with some repair service places before falling into a trap.
There are some things we can do to slow down some of the problems from low priced vehicles and that is to have them undercoated when purchased new to keep rust from rendering a vehicle unrepairable after a few years driving on salted roads. Hyundai seems to fit into that category .
2 weeks in the Hyundai service Dept and still no word IF they can get a gearbox... They told me I'd need a new box and they'd do the clutch while it was out...c.5k in total so I said "go ahead, how quick can you get a box?" "Hyundai wont tell us before we get a 1k deposit off you and place the order"...?? So I stumped up the 1k and I'm STILL WAITING for info on WHEN I'll get sorted... I've bought a 1k Lexus Is220d to get me around in the meantime..400k on it and STILL on original box.. But regards the 'cheap' Hyundai/Kias , Genesis is one of their brands so the same components are possibly fitted to all...?
UPDATE. NO date given by Hyundai Europe for WHEN they'd have a box...SO, asked Dealer if I sourced a low mileage s/h box would they fit it , as every day I'm losing income by being off the road. They came back and said Hyundai allowed them to cancel the order and they'd fit the s/h box as soon as I can get it to them. I'll say that this dealer has been as helpful as they can be..but ZERO marks to the first dealer who wouldn't even have a 5 min look at the noise, or Hyundai Europe who wouldn't give a delivery date for a part...So, Tuesday will tell....
