Hi to everyone.
I am changing the transfer box and gear box oil on my 2007 tucson 2.0 crdi and I could do with some advice please.
On the transfer box the drain plug would appear to be a hex bolt mounted horizontally at the bottom of the box. Is the fill plug the allen key one just above it on the right which is at angle of approximately 30 degrees to the drain plug?
On the gearbox there appears to be two possible fill plugs. One is a 13mm hex the other, a larger hex to the right lower down.
Can anyone advice please on if I have located the correct fill points and which one is correct on the gearbox?
Thanks Transfer box
What does your owner's manual say? It usually will tell you the recommended change interval, the correct quantity and type lubricant to install.
This may or may not apply here, but I have found from past work
usually a recessed plug can be either a fill or drain.
If,,,,,,,,you remove the lowest plug , measure the exact amount of lube that comes out. Then you have some idea of how much to put back in. There has to be a plug higher up to remove, to replace the lubricant that has drained out.
Most of the time the correct fill level is , level with the fill hole with the plug out.
