Default 02 GL EVAP removal

Is it possible to just remove the charcoal cannister system completely? I'm guessing that since the pellets are everywhere in this module but the cannister that it isn't working anyway. I've already removed a hose to allow the car to fill up with kicking the pump off from backpressure. Can I just cap of the piping to the module and go on with life. This is a 13-year old car with 172K miles on it in a non-emissions testing state.

Default still would like to know

Well, several people read my post but no one wanted to stick their neck out on this one. I shook out a bunch of loose carbon, placed a screen over the hose outlet they seemed to all come from, as well as a screen over the vent up to the filler neck. Shook out all the carbon from the purge valve and put the whole thing back in. It seemed to fill all right at the pump. Guess we'll call this good enough and move on to bigger fish, like changing out the AC compressor.
