Hello, I just bought a second hand 2002 Accent GS 5 speed manual and im doing a lot of work on it such as clutch, flywheel, all ignition components, fluids, tires, brakes, headlights, etc. but one thing i am having an issue fixing is the intermitting dash cluster lights that comes on then off randomly. i've seen people mention that it may be the inverter but when i took out the cluster, i couldnt find a way to get to it let alone find it. i was only able to take off the clear glass cover, the black trim, then that was it. i tried cleaning the wiring and the electric contacts with alcohol but nothing. if the inverter is the case, how do i get to it step by step and if not, can i just buy a used instrument panel to just plug and play? also if it matter, my cluster is the one with the white face and bluish/green illumination. thanks.

 

A lot depends if the problem is within the cluster itself or connections feeding the cluster.

There are times when you get a used cluster it has a lot more miles on the odometer than yours , how do you feel about this?

 

I found some dashes with similar-ish mileage so I'm not too worried about that. What I'm worried about is finding the white gauge faces and looking to see if the used gauge will be just plug and play.

 

Did you find a fix? Mine has been doing that for a while.

 

No unfortunately I did not. I just put a small strip of led near the dashboard to illuminate it
