Does anyone know what the proper compression is supposed to be. I have seen everything from 105 to 215 psi.

My daughter's accent over heated due to lack of water. The oil was low as well, so I am guessing warped/cracked head or blown gasket. In either case, one she got oil and water in it the engine wouldn't start, it took probably 30 seconds of cranking and pumping to fill the cylinder with enough fuel to increase compression enough to stat up. That's my guess as of now, but I need to know what proper values should be in order to test my theory, I need to test both dry and wet and cold as well as at temp in order to know for sure if its a head or ring issue, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

 

From my experience, a compression of 150 to 190 is good.
But, overheat?? You need to ... yeah, there is a bunch of stuff to check
My guess would have been that the valves were sticking or bent that kept the engine from starting up

 

The fact that it ran low on water in the first place is what lead me to the head. It isn't leaking from anywhere, so it had to be passing through the head. I know that there is a whole bunch of stuff to check out with this one for sure, just making sure I have a good starting point.

Thanks, I am gonna need itimay skip the compression check altogether and just go ahead and replace the head and timing components. The heads for these aren't ridiculously expensive, considering.

 

Well, from what I have read so far, it just could be the head gasket??
Heads warping is usually due to extensive overheat conditions.
