Default 2005 automatic Accent sedan shifting issue

Problem:
When I shift from rear drive to drive (R to D)there is a pretty strong jerk for a second. This only happens when I shift from R to D. That is my only problem. What could this be?
Thank you in advance

are you still moving backwards when you shift? i dont know you, but i know that my brother does that alot, and claims there is a problem with the car. i really doubt that is your problem, but if it is come to a complete stop before you shift.

since thats probably not your issue, is the service engine soon light popping up? just out of curiousity what happens when you come to a complete stop, wait a second, then shift? does it still jump? what about doing the opposite, what happens when you go from drive to reverse?

No, just from R to D. Sometimes it does not jerk, though. I have just tried to do it now several times and it did jerkonly once. I think that when I shift fast from R to D it is seamless. It seems that when I shift slower [from R to N to D) it does this. I'll check again later.
Thanks

weird, well if you dont want to pay for a mechanic to look at it you can try putting in lucas transmition treatment. other than that all i can say is take it to a pro... wait a minute, if its 05 it should still be under warranty right? if it is take it to the dealer, its their problem if its got warranty still. dont even **** with it.

It is fine now. It has not jerked for like a week. I have not gone to the dealer but will mention it next time. In any case, the car has been phenomenal and I love it.... I did not want to get 2006, the new version, and wanted only basic stuff plus automatic and air conditioning. I bought this car in December 2005 (15 months). I plan on driving it for like 5-8 years and then I will buy another Hyundai Accent--hopefully they'll make a hybrid one. Imagine that!

My 2005 Accent 5 door hatchback is also doing the exact same thing (I just bought the car). Took it in under warranty a few days ago, they couldn't find a problem. I'll try shifting it faster from R to D. I tend tonot come to a full stop between R and D, so of course that could be part of the problem. My old car ('04 Grand Prix GTP compG) loved to be shifted from R to D while still going backwards pretty fast. Just might have to get use to this paticular tranny

That's a good way to kill your transmission. Come to a COMPLETE stop with you foot firmly on the brake and noton the gas when going from Reverse to Drive. Also try stopping in Neurtal for a split second instead of going directly from one get to the other.

That is right. You HAVE to come to a complete stop, waita bit and then shift from R to D. It just shifts slower, that's all.
