2012 accent clanging noise
my wife's 2012 accent automatic has 99,180 miles on it and it has developed a clanging noise when it gets between 30 and 40 mph. it doesn't happen all the time tho. if you let off the gas the noise goes away or if you give it more gas it will change gear and stop. if you give it gas and it doesn't change gears the clanging sound gets very loud.
this afternoon the engine light came on and has stayed on all afternoon and evening. as soon as it came on i had her call the hyundai dealer we bought the car from and we have an appointment for them at 2pm tomorrow afternoon. we just had service for this problem just 7 days earlier and told them about it again. they said it was the serpentine belt that it was weather cracked and needed to be replaces and that it was slipping and making the clanging noise. their went 160.00 and did not fix the problem.
we get the oil changed every 6 weeks cause she drives it a lot to work. i have been telling the hyundai dealership that does all our maintenance on the care about it since april. our 100,000 mile powertrain warranty will run out by next friday. i don't have much faith that the dealer will find out what is wrong with the car tomorrow when they look at it again. i am wondering is this the start of the engine or transmission going to crap ?
