Default Air Bag Light is always on

I have a 2008 Accent with the air bag light on. Local mechanic found error codes B1448, B1449, & B1102 are activated. He checked all connections that he could easily investigate and concluded both seat cushion sensors must be bad which results in an obscene expense to replace. Any thoughts on what else could be wrong? Don't understand why two separate sensors would go bad at the same time. Car is not under warranty so it is out of pocket.

I doubt both sensors are bad.

B1448 = Occupant classification sensor defect
B1449 = Occupant classification communication error
B1102 = Ignition voltage low

I was told that one code (B1448) was for one seat and that the other code (B1449) was an error for the other seat. It doesn't seem likely to fail in two different locations at the same time. Therefore I'm hoping the combination of errors points to some common failure such as defective wiring. Any thoughts?
