Default a/c problem

Hi Everyone-

I've got a 2004 Accent with an a/c problem. Basically, the a/c never shuts off! Even with the button showing it's off, the compressor still runs like it was turned on. The a/c starts running within a few seconds of starting the ignition, and the only way to stop it literally is to turn the engine off.

Has anyone seen this behavior before? Is it a short somewhere?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

CH

It could be the thermister shorted. If the vehicle is still under warranty take it in. If not well you might want to take it in anyway.

Not so!
This is normal. The compressor will come on in DEF & DEF/FLOOR. When you disconnect the micro switch connector behind the heater control, then the AC operation is completely manual, and will only come on when you press the AC-button.
