Default check timing

i have a 1997 accent 1.5 sohc it has lost power and snorts once in a while the timing belt was changed not so long ago but i would like to check it without takingthe pump and stuff off i removed dust cover from top of timer now can i use the timing mark on crank shaft pully and put mark on cam shaft top dead centre the question is what should the mark on the crank be set at ??

Hi,

With the dust cover off, you should be able to see both marks on the camshaft and crankshaft. These need to be aligned perfectly for the timing to be set right. Is your tensioner properly installed without slack? Get used to the lack of replies in this forum as there doesn't appear to be too many people interested in the Accent or offering their replies.
