Default Class 1 Hitch For 2012GLS

I have a 2012GLS w/ manual trans. that I'd like to use to pull my 14 ft rowboat to local lakes. Owners manual says "do not recommend towing" with this vehicle. Question is, will adding a hitch void my warranty? Anyone towing anything w/ an Accent? Comments?

Yes, it will void your warranty. There will probably be plenty of Accent users here that will tell you they tow with their Accent and have no problem. And if this car was out of warranty, I'd say go for it. But because it's a new car with a warranty, I wouldn't do that.

I looked into towing a canoe with my Elantra GLS. I found some info that, tho it is not desinged to tow, it can handle around 700lbs. I would make sure the trailer is as light as possible (alluminium) and add a few parts such a transmision cooler.

I ended up getting kayaks instead
