Default Excessive oil consumption 2000 accent

Hi
I have a 5 speed manual transmission accent. In the past 3 months I have been adding a litre of oil every two weeks.
No signs of leakage on the ground, no smoking or burning smell.
A friend put in a new pcv valve, no change.
I use 5/30 synthetic oil. Don't want to take it into a mechanic w/o knowing what it could be.
Thanks for all your help.
Deb

Did you check the radiator? If it's not leaking on the ground or into the coolant then the engine is burning it. Check the plugs.

You may have worn piston rings. I had a similar issue with my Sentra 2002.
As an inexpensive tryout go back to conventionnal oil and use Lucas Oil Stabilizer : http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...l%20Stabilizer

Replace 1QT of oil by 1QT of Lucas. This will give you a ratio of 25% Lucas.
I used Lucas the last 2 years I had that vehicle and it worked out for me.

Good Luck!
