got a doozy here..
alright so my accent is doing this thing where it has an elongated crank and doesn't turn over. after 2 or 3 attempts itd turn over however, the rpm gauge lays at 0 and doesn't move. it also has about half the power it should have. when i floor it, it doesn't downshift nor go any faster. it did bog down though, almost like a governer hit. no engine lights either
if i park the car and turn it off, it'll restart with no issue like nothing ever happened. it does this at random whether the engine is hot or cold for about a month or so now.
anyone i talk to thinks its either a crank sensor or ecu, any ideas or has anyone else experienced this?

Malfunctioning crank sensors don't always throw a code.
The RPM signal to the gauge does come from the crank sensor. They are not that expensive or difficult to replace. Could be a poor connection down there. You might try unplugging and re plugging it back together and see if there is any difference. Without sufficient test equipment, might be a good move to just replace it.

Well here's an update. Replaced the sensor and it starts fine but stahls when I touch the gas pedal. Could be in park, reverse, drive or neutral. Stahls.
Wtf? Does any kind of reprogramming have to be done or something?

It could be rust in the gas tank.
Letting the gas go past 1/4 tank often can give enough air and moisture to rot the tank from the inside
Or just bad gas
The loose stuff clogs the strainer or fuel filter???

***UPDATE*** seems it was the crank sensor after all however, when i put in the new sensor the oring didnt seat properly so it was making good enough contact. all fixed now haha, will see how it runs over the next few weeks.
thanks for everyones help!
