Default Headlight bulb replacement

My son has a 2002 Accent with a burned out headlight bulb. The owner's manual says to remove the power cable first, but we can't seem to release it. Is there a clip holding it on that we haven't found. He took it to a local repair place, and they couldn't find one either, so I guess it is not just us.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
we have a 1998 Accent and ours just has a little clip that you depress and the wires unplug from the back of the bulb. Then you turn this little ring that's about 2 inches in diameter and it comes off, and then you can take the bulb out. Although, it is a little tight in there, especially on the battery side of the car. However, I don't what your son's looks like, but our bulb is almost round at the back with a flat side where the clip locks onto it when you plug it back in. Being it's a 2002 it may be a little different than ours though. Hope this helps...

I would loosen the headlight bucket, tip it up and then remove the bulb while it is still connected to the harness. Then you should be able to get a close look at how the connector is locked to the bulb base. These connectors usually have a plastic ridge in the middle that you have to press pretty hard to get them to release.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1.Disconnect the negative(-) battery terminal.

2.Remove the head lamp mounting bolts (2EA), then disconnect the lamp connectors.

3.Installation is the reverse of removal.
