I bought two!
Hello all,
I just wanted to chime in here and share a few things with you about my purchases. First, I can't tell you how much stress I shed by trading in two gas guzzling monsters that have been putting me in the poor house for the last several years. I dumped a 2007 GMC 2500HD Z71 4x4 Diesel (10-14mpg) and a 2003 Chevy Suburban (11-15mpg)! In return, I purchased two 2012 Hyundai's: Tucson GLS AWD for the wife and a Accent SE hatch back for me, both in matching Mocha Bronze! WINNING!
I will say trading in both vehicles was a snap as I had a lot of positive equity in the GMC, Damn those trucks hold their value, again, a win-win for me. So far the vehicle have been fantastic. I will say I was fixated on the sticker EPA mileage estimates of 30-40mpg on my Accent. After driving the little scoot for two weeks on SoCal freeway, in what I would describe as "Normal" driving, I average about 29-32mpg (30% City 70% Highway). Not as good as I expected and was told, but still WAY batter then what I was getting before. I average over 310 miles between fill ups, and that is with the ECO button always on.
The Tuscon has a bigger engine as averages about 21mpg mostly driven around town by the wife, lot's of stop and go stuff. Not the 28-30mpg as stated, but better than the 11mpg the Suburban gave me.

First, nice cars. Two of my favorites.
The 2012 Accent SE automatic has an EPA mileage est. (cty/hwy): 30/40 mpg
So with a 40% city and 70% highway I'd expect about 36. That is if you were doing 55-mph. Over that speed, then your numbers are going to be lower. Right about what you said you were getting.
The 2012 Tucson GLS AWD automatic has an EPA mileage est. (cty/hwy): 21/28 mpg
So with it driven mostly around town (ie: city), I'd expect 21-mpg. Exactly what you are getting.
So both cars appear to be getting exactly what should be expected. I see no problem (except for maybe your expectations).
