i have a 97 hyundai accent i got it a couple of years ago. the problem is the overdrive button doesnt work. how would i go about seeing if it is hooked up. thanks in advance for any help.

 

The overdrive is normally always engaged and had its pros and cons. on my 02 when i hit the button i get a light that says O/D OFF. Or you could check the power going in and out of the button, check the fuse. to see if it is off and not working floor your gas petal and if it has a slower acceleration then usual OD is off but if it feels right than it should be fine

 

isnt overdrive supposed to be more efficient. I dont have that feature , my 95 accent is 5 speed. But overdrive is a term which means you drive in a higher gear so the engine rotates slower = saving gas. mybe its irrelevant. you basically wonbt have muchtorque in overdrive, out of overdrive you have more. the old torque vs revs conflict
