Default Stuck in Vegas: AIT SENSOR

Has anyone any information about intake air temperature sensor failure, my lil' Accent is running fine despite check engine light being on, but I have 900+ miles to go to get home to Oregon. Had read at AutoZone, loose electrical connections or IAT sensor failure. Can anyone tell me how critical this unit is, can I make the trip home as is to get to my mechanic?

First, what was the code? And why not just test the AIT and replace it if needed?
