Default trailer hitch

I am looking at getting a trailer hitch to carry a mobility scooter, any suggestions? It will be a shelf on back of the car, the year is a 2010, sedan. The scooter weighs around 135#.

every time this comes up i say the same thing:

read your damn manual

clearly states that you should not tow anything with an accent.

While I agree you shouldn't tow with the Accent I don't think a 135 pound scooter would cause a problem. If that's what it really weighs, it's less than an average male passenger. Using a tow hitch to carry bicycles or a scooter shouldn't hurt an Accent.

I'm assuming they are looking to do something like this:

All you need is a receiver hitch installed that a stinger on the platform will fit into. For example Drawtite does make a Catagory I hitch to fit your Accent:

This should be stout enough to handle the static and dynamic wieght of the scooter. Uhaul hitches use to be made by Drawtite (and maybe still are), so if you can't a Drawtite dealer, Uhaul stores are everywhere.

Read your owners manual. You aren't supposed to tow with the accent.
