Default wire harness

so this may be something the experts here can help me with.
so i am driving down the interstate and my tire shreds apart and rips out my wire harness on the drivers side front.
i went to a junk yard and got a harness. all the wires matched up and i spliced them all together.
i reinstalled everything and turned the key.
i get bells and whistles but no starting. i checked all the fuses and replaced the one for the ignition, but still when i turn the key i get nothing.
oh yeah my power windows won't work either.

thanks in advance for all the help.

was it the same year of accent? my guess is not.

although the plugs are the same and the wiring colours APPEAR to be the same, the wiring changes slightly EACH YEAR with accents. and yes power windows do change, i can say that first hand. i pulled some power windows out of an '03 to swap into my '04. almost started working with the wiring schematics for the '04 - then i figured out that they were slightly different and had to work with the '03 schematics and make any changes where necessary.

so yeah unless its the same year, same engine and same transmission it will be different.

i wouldn't go that far. i'd start tracing down the wires using schematics on www.hmaservice.com and verify where they go. changing wires and rerouting them isn't that hard. the differences are usually minor. you can even use the connectors from your old harness if necessary. mostly i'd be checking the ECU pinout and to where the wires go. its a bit time consuming, but lets be honest here - its not hard to make a mistake. i can't guarantee that you have wired it up right or not or if the harness is compatible or not. i'd hate to see you do it again only to have the same problem.

wiring is never fun. i wouldn't just go start swapping without knowing the root cause - you're just asking for it to happen again.

BTW if you do need a source, junkyards are wonderful. check locals as well as www.car-part.com.
