Engine noise
At 2500 miles I have started to hear a tapping or knocking noise in the engine. Dealer has heard it but does not think it to be serious. We compared the engine noise with another Azera and it was not there. Just wondering if anyone else has heard this noise. Keeps time with RPM, not real loud.
I will schedule a service visit if it is still there after I take a previously scheduled road trip next week.

I had the same problem and it went away when the oil was changed last week. The dealer said I needed to change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles or 3mo. to better protect the engine and that the ticking is caused by a hydraulic lifter sticking because the oil gets thicker over use and time and has difficulty reaching one or more of the lifters.
I also had them look at the computer and they added the feature of the drivers seat going all the way back when stopping and removing the key. They were not aware of this until I had them look at this forum to see the posted concerns about communications between Hyundai and the Dealers.
This morning I called 1-800-633-5151 which is the number in the maintence log for customers with questions to call. I first asked about oil change intervals and they confirmed I should follow the owners manual and maintence log (7,500 miles or 6 mo.) and to keep receipts so as to avoid any warranty issues. Nuff said! I then told the Hyundai Rep about communications between Hyundai and the dealers and how it was mention several times on this forum. She then suggested I write a letter to Hyundai to which I replied I had told her and expected her to relay these concerns and I would not write any letter to Hyundai. Wonder why Hyundai can't look at this for themselves to get a feel for customer concerns.
I also told the dealer that I would have paid for GPS and Sattelite Radio if it were available which it still is not on the 2007's.

I had my oil changed at 2500 when I took it in for the noise. I was going on a road trip and had it changed early. The noise was still there. It sounds lower in pitch than a lifter noise and seems to come from lower in the engine area. I will ask them to check it again at the next oil change. Yes, dealers and quick change places insist on pushing the 3000 mile interval, but the manuals recommend that only in "harsh conditions". Driving back and forth to work is not a harsh condition, it is a normal condition. I usually go with 6000 mile intervals.
Did your dealer charge you to re-program the seat?

I have 4k miles on my 2006 Azera and hear the same noise in the garage when I start the car. I too was told to change the oil every 3k, however the toll free CSR said to follow the book since they govern the warranty, not the dealership. If you want to change the oil sooner you can.
There are alot of features that are available for this car but are not communicated to the dealer or the buyer. Have your dealer hook your car up to the HI-SCAN PRO Tool and have them go through the features. I wrote an email to an executive at Hyundai outlining the situation, and no response...

No engine noise yet but then again I only have 900 miles on the car. I do agree there are so many options on the Azera and I have the Ultimate package. Garage door opener I don't even have a automatic garage door. I still trying to figure out the radio. Everybody I talked to has a problem with a clunk in the front suspension. I have a clunk but it isn't very noticable but the way I understand it the problem can't be fixed only patched.
How about you guys do you hear a clunk in the suspension?

The clunk is heard a low speeds say around 20 or 30 MPH. Sounds like a hollow sound hard to discribe but it is noticable. Many Azera consumers have the problem. I noticed it when I drove the demo at the dealer but didn't pay too much attention to it because I was caught up in the rest of the car and the options. Then when I bought my new Azera I started to hear about a week after I had the car, only because I read it on one of the forum pages.
To me it really isn't a big deal but it should't be happening on a $30,000 car. The ride itself is great and of course the confort is flawless. The clunk is a problem and the dealers can't fix it. If you don't notice it now you will.

I have not heard the clunk on my Azera.
BTW, I recommend registering to the www.hmaservice.com website. It is a Hyundai site for service info. Has bulletins and fixes for some of the problems in their cars.

I have not, after 5,700 miles, experienced a 'klunk' or any other strange noises. I have, however, noticed that the ticking noise from the engine has returned. I called the Dealer and we agree it sounds like one of the lifters is the culprit and they asked me to bring it in for further review. I'll go in in the next couple of days and then post their findings and recommendations.
