Default 1.8 engine removal

Hi everybody!

I have the notorious knocking 1.8 engine in my 2013 Elantra coupe. Have any of you out there removed the engine from the top? The service manual pulls it from under the car. This job will be done in my garage. I do not have a lift. Thanks.

I suppose if you remove the hood to give you room to get close enough , then remove whatever you have to to clear the opening.
You're going to have axles, wiring, and lots of "stuff" to get it out, but might be a good idea to write down some of the steps so you don't overlook anything on assembly/
Sometimes something simple like a ground wire behind everything can get overlooked and when done can't imagine why something is not working right.
Because the ground wire is small and never noticed , it can take somebody for a real ride trying to figure out why certain things either don't work or throw codes that blow your mind.
I have learned not to rely on pictures alone especially if you assemble a pile of stuff only to find you can't get this last piece in place because everything else is in the way.

Thanks Hanky,

I was hoping that it would work that way. I thought it could, but i wasn't sure.
