Default 2000 Elantra Trouble seperating transaxel for clutch replacement

I will be installing my second clutch in my 2000 Elantra and the last time I had trouble getting the transaxel to seperate from the motor. The bearing was locked in the pressure plate and needed way too much persuasion to get it to seperate. Has anyone else had this problem and a possible solution before I start the new one?
