I have googled this and just can not find a definitive answer. 2004 Elantra with Automatic Transmission. It has a spin-on filter in the engine compartment. Is there ALSO a filter in the transmission reservoir ?

Check what your owner's manual says,,,,,,,,,,,,,or call a Hyundai dealer, provide your VIN and they should be able to tell you.
They are not all the same.

 

Well I gave them my VIN and they emailed back saying my car only has one transmission filter, and that it was the flat internal one in the reservoir. Well I know for a fact it has a spin-on type because I have replaced it before. So that doesn't really instill any confidence in what their parts department tells me.
