06 Hyundai Elantra clock, radio, lighter, map light and remote locking do not work. Necessary fuses have been replaced but problem still remains. Also, when I start the car, the needles of speedometer and tachometer quickly fly up to 12 o'clock position then return to normal position. My husband has limited knowledge of this type of repair but we would like to know if there is anything we can check without too much difficulty before having to pay shop to diagnose. Does anyone have any suggestions?
First make sure your battery/charging system are good. Take it to AutoZone, Walmart, or Sears for a free check. A lot of times these weird problems are because of a weak battery.
I have the same problem. Has anyone come up with any ideas on this. This happened after my Granddaughter borrowed the car and got a jump. The big fuse is not blown, so it is not that. I read it can be the radio. I disconnected it, and this did nothing. HELP!
Well, many people come here looking for help.
Some only come to get the answers but forget that others may need the same help
So, many do not return to tell us what worked or how they found the problem and fix
The more we learn, the more we realize how much we don't know. Even if someone manages to post the fix/correction they will forget and not return until another problem comes up. Those of us that devote a lot of time and experience to the forum appreciate getting the fixes so we can share them when needed. Thanks.
I thought it was odd that you had such a range of items stop working. So I jumped on AllData and took a look at the power distribution diagrams and sure enough, all of those items mentioned share a common power source. There is a yellow wire that feeds all of the fuses for those items. It runs from the fuse panel to the ignition switch. I'm willing to bet that if you test both legs of the fuse, you will not have 12v. I would inspect this yellow wire. It's likely it's been cut, shorted, disconnected or become corroded. Inspect it closely. Following it back from the fuse block to the ignition switch. I know that's not a simple task, but it's likely your problem. Good luck! Here's the relevant part of the diagram, for anyone interested. Hope that helps someone!
