Default 2007 Hyundai Elantra Steering Wheel Creak

Hello!

So this sound started suddenly. It appears to be a creaking noise coming from the steering wheel, much like a rusty door hinge. The strange thing is, it only does it when the wheel is turned left. You can also hear a creak when accelerating and braking. The vehicle does not need to be running to hear it.

I ran across a TSB for a rubber bushing in the MDPS, but that sound seems to be something completely different. The noise is not coming from the MDPS, rather, at the point it exits the vehicle and even outside the car.

I have not yet put the front end in the air to check things like ball joints, etc, so I still need to do that. I wanted to post this as it is something that started suddenly, and there have been no issues with the car at all. Also wanted to see if any other Elantra owners have had this issue as well.

Here is a video:

I appreciate your assistance in this issue!

Thanks!

Haha. Good point!

The sound went away and the car is back to normal. We will keep an eye on it.
