2011 Elantra key won’t turn on
this is a first time post for me, I’m hopeful that some much smarter people will be able to help.
I’m in a bind. I convinced my wife’s daughter and her dad that buying a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring from my brother was a great idea. The car only has 80,000 miles and my brother sold to us for $4,000.
The purchase of the vehicle between blended families was not so smooth but was finally figured out. However, two days into driving the car and we are having issues now.
the battery is fine
the key fob has a new battery
issues are:
- key fob will not lock or unlock vehicle
- The radio stays on even though doors are shut and no key in ignition.
- when you open the door there is chiming as if to tell you a key is in the ignition and don’t forget to take it out… even though there is no key in the ignition.
- biggest concern… when I insert the key in the ignition and try to turn it, it won’t turn.
The steering wheel is not locked.
I’m desperate here… I truly hope someone has some guidance on what to check for to determine what the issue is before I have to have this towed to a mechanic.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
