Ok, so I throughly enjoy driving my Elantra Limited but I am also a bit disappointed in the features that this car is lacking.

Today’s day and age, everything is charged via USB, and the newest standard USB 3 or USB C is completely missing from the 2023 Elantra Limited.

However, it does have two USB ports in the front under the infotainment and climate control. One of those USB ports is for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity and the the other a fast USB 2 port. In the rear of the vehicle for the passengers there are, oh wait, there are no other ports in this vehicle.

Hyundai, what were you thinking when you let this vehicle go to market with only two USB ports? What a disappointment, and what a hassle it is to have a USB hub to share power with the rear occupants. Not to mention all the damn cords snaking all over the beautiful cockpit style gear selector area that is meant for the drivers storage.

This vehicle does have a wireless charging pad, but does not feature wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. It has been thrown around that an over-the-air software update may enable this feature, but I am not certain nor am I going to hold my breath. It is a shame that due to a dispute over the physical Navigation button that this trim level was denied a feature that the lower trim levels enjoy.

Moving on. Why can I not show my turn by turn navigation provided by Google Maps in the middle of the main driver’s display? I can have it display the turn by turn for the built in Navigation but Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, better luck next time. The driver’s display should allow full customization including being able to display turn by turn from any provider of the owners choice.

The SiriusXM radio, to my knowledge, does not allow one to pick favorite songs or artists to be alerted when they are being aired on any channel. In my previous vehicle, not going to provide the make, this was a feature that was available. Why not on the Elantra?

For all the features this vehicle lacks, I’m surprised that I still consider it an enjoyment to drive. I guess that is only when I tell my rear seat occupants to be quite when their iPads battery is drained and there is no room for them to get some power due to all ports are currently being utilized by the front seat occupants.

I’m at a loss for words concerning that. How utterly unbelievable that the USB charging ports for rear occupants was completely overlooked. Now, I must find some aesthetically pleasing way to provide the ability to charge their devices in the back seat.
