Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default Codes

Hello everyone,
I am looking for a list of what the codes are. I have a 99 Elantra that needs some work.
The codes are P1700 and P1B00.
Thanks.

Try odb-codes.com.

P1700 is tps failure

P1800 is TCM power failure

Two codes which at first glance are unrelated.

Thanks for your help.
I had 4 codes show up.

P0310- Standard DTCs(iso 15031-6/SAE J02012) Cylinder 10 misfire detected.

P1700

P0710- Transmission fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit
Standard DTC's (iso 15031-6/SAE J020212)

P1B00

I have never fixed a car before. Can you talk down to me. I do not know anything about cars. I am ready to learn as much as I can to fix this without getting any help.
Thanks again,
WMM

Ok, first you have some explaining to do...

What is your symptoms? What's wrong?
What year is your car?
How many miles?
Did you check the trans fluid level?
Did you do a trans fluid flush?

P1B00 is not a code, I think you refer to P1800.

Not likely you had a P0310 code, as you don't have 10 cylinders.

Hello,
I went out and retested my car for the codes.
I have a 1999 Elantra. It has almost 100,000 miles on it. It felt like my car was not going to shift. The check engine light can on. I tested my care and now the code says:
P0722 output
Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit
No signal
I checked the list of codes that is on the internet. This list does not show any codes that start with PO--Is there another code list?
Also-What is this telling me? Is it something I can fix myself?
Do I need to take it in to be fixed by someone?

Thanks for your help,
WMM

Yes, you can replace this part. It's an output speed sensor, like the name implies. It measures output speed near the axles. It's bolted on to the transmission with one little bolt. It can be purchased from Autozone for about $80. I can't find a diagram, but it's totally easy to do once you figure out where it is.

Red face codes

Wonderful!
Ok I need help. I am a 53 year old woman who has never worked on a car before. I need to be able to fix this myself. Please can anyone help me?
How do I change this part?
Also where can I get the codes for my Elantra that start with PO?
The list that was given to me does not have any letters with the number O after the P.
Thanks,
WMM

Ok, you'll need a ratchet set to do it. It's on top of the transmission, underneath the air cleaner tubes. You have to remove the air cleaner box and tubes, then you can get to it.

In the photo is the PGB and the connector. You have to remove the PGB and disconnect the connector. It's one little bolt and unclip the wire, and voila!

Thank you.
I will get the part next week and give it a try. I am sure I will be back with questions. Maybe it will just work out perfectly for me.
I do not have an autozone near me-I will go to our local shop and get one.
Now back to the question on the code list. The list that was sent to me does not have any codes that start with P0. Where do I get this list?
Again thats for all of your help so far. I know I can get this fixed next week.
Thanks,
Wendy
