RE: crank sensor

I stand corrected, Ken99 and NovaResorce always has the best answers.

Could you guys please show me a diagram for the crank sensor on my 99 Elantra 2.0L? I have been unable to view the diagrams on the hmaservice.com site since they changed the format. Thanks in advance.

RE: crank sensor

NovaResource,

After some inspection, I have to say I think my crank sensor is behind the crank pulley. I didn't actually remove the pulley, but certainly my car does not look like the diagram you provided. Perhaps you gave me the diagram for a later model. My model is a 1999 2.0L Elantra. Please try again, it would help me a lot. Thanks.

Where does the crankshaft fall under in the warranty?

Recently had my car (Hyundai Veloster) stalling out on me several times. After having it service twice, with no solution to the stalling, even with the reps sighting two different "possible" causes, we reluctantly went back to the Hyundai service center for a third time. This time was no different, other than the fact my "Check Engine" light was on. They told the cause of the stalling was the Crankshaft position sensor. I assumed since this part is found on the engine, that it would be covered under the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. My car only has 69,000+ miles. I was wrong however according to the customer service reps. They told me the part falls under 5yr/60,000 mile limited warranty. After reviewing that and seeing that part of the warranty basically cover the radio and the like, I find this to be perplexing to say the least.

So can someone help understand this a little more? How can a part of the engine fall under a warranty that does not cover any engine parts or interior engine parts, yet fall under a warranty that covers Paint, the air conditioner, the radio and battery?
