has the Elantra ventilation filters?

Does the Elantra have filters for the air coming into the cabin for heating
and airconditioning? I looked at a workshop manual in the library, but
it had little about the ventilation system. My wife says European cars
have such filters as standard, but I can't recall seeing any except in
4WD offroad vehicles.
And if so, are they easy to clean or replace?
I have a year 2001 model basic GL 1.8 litre.

The attachment is an excerpt from the 2001 US Elantra manual. It may/may not apply to your question.

You car does have the place to install one but most US cars did not come with one.

My 2004 Tiburon was the same way. So I just ordered a filter from the dealer and installed it myself.

Now, my 2006 Tucson came with one from the factory. Go figure.
