Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default Heater won't turn off even with AC on.

Hello. You have a great site here! I have a 2007 elantra. Regardless of what temp setting I turn the newly replaced climate control unit to, it blows out very hot air as if the heater is on. The AC compressor is still engaging as I can visually see, and the air is much hotter than if the compressor was just out of refrigerant. Could it be that there is some sort of heater door diverter that won't close properly?
Thanks!
Chris

There is something called a blend door which sometimes breaks or gets stuck.
It determines which way the air flows.
Yours may be stuck in the heater mode.

Thank you avisitor. Do you have any good diagrams that you can point me to?
Thanks!

Ok, so i found it! Its officially called the HVAC actuator. And its on the passengers side. The diagrams i found on another site stated it was on the drivers side, but when i took a look underneath the dash while turning the climate control *****, i noticed that the drivers side controls were all moving when i turned the air position selector ****. So i saw the same type of mechanism (white plastic pieces with slide channels) on the passengers side but they did not move at all when i turned any of the *****. I then took the glove box out and saw the the piece said HVAC actuator. So i disconnected it and physically slid the little white lever toward the firewall and i had AC again! So now ill purchase the part and replace it. In the meantime i can at least reach under the dash and move the lever to the back of the car if i need heat.
Thanks

Heres a photo of the white plastic lever with the pin on the pass side after the actuator has been removed. Sorry but the photo is upside down (darn iPad)
