Hi everyone

Hi guys. I'm new to this board. I finally joined because I've had a 2006 Hyundai Elantra 5 speed since new, and it now has about 120k miles on it. It's been a great little car and I envision putting close to 200k miles on her before moving on to something else, but I'm in need of some maintenance.

The clutch and brakes need to be replaced, and I am going to have a friend of mine do the work for me, but I need to order the parts. I have no idea where to go to get these things and exactly what I need.

I need a new clutch, so is there a comprehensive kit I can buy?

What about the brakes? The car needs 4 new rotors and pads and I'd like to buy a full kit for this as well, something that has everything I'll need so my friend can come and do the work for me. Obviously cost is an issue which is why I came here, as I've always found forums to be a great way of finding the best deals on products. So can someone help me out?

Thanks for the help guys!

Welcome. Has the timing belt ever been changed? It should be changed every 60,000 miles. If it hasn't or if you don't know, get it changed ASAP. Or else this could happen:

Buy your clutch parts from your local dealer, disc, pressure plate, release brg, and (3) of the 75/85 GL M/T oil... DO NOT USE GL5 gear oil, you'll ruin the trans.

Brake parts, local well stocked auto parts store will cut cost there for you.. get some good pads, Wagner Thermo-Quiet from Advanced or O-Reilly be good way to go, RAYBESTOS Ceramic another good choice.. Hyundai pads if nothing available right off.. Dealer always has pads & rotors, just have to put up with their mark up, but our pads average $65 per axle set in most cases.

While you gots the trans out, pop the hose off the slave, and remove the spring loaded restrictor thing inside there,, your clutch will last longer, and flush the release system so it has new clean fluid... wipe the black mud out of the resevoir.

what about this clutch? I've been ripped off by dealers so often I honestly try to stear clear of them.
