Default Horn Installation

I plan to upgrade to a louder horn on my '05 Elantra. Looks like I can get to the horn from below (undesirable) or by removing the front grill (concerned about ruining the pop-in fasteners). Any advice? Thanks.

You don't say what year you have. I know 2001-2003, the grill was attached to the hood, so I will assume you have a 2004-2006 model. If it's older than 2001, I'm not too sure how it's put together.

For the 2004-2006 models, here is a link to how to Remove the Front Bumper Fascia. The first several steps involve removing the grill. There are no pop fasteners involved. The plastic fasteners that hold the top plastic trim can be removed by partially unscrewing the center fastener, then pulling the center and outer fastener out together as a unit.

By the way, I upgraded my horn too. You won't be sorry. I got a dual note horn off an old Nissan out of a junkyard, and added it to my stock horn, for a unique three-note sound that is best described as "angry and European".

Because the stock horn sucks and is easily ignored. Since upgrading, people notice if I hit the horn. Which is the whole point of a horn.

yeah my kids and their friends used to ask me to blow my horn and they'd all laugh...little beeeeep beeeeep...
Its the weakest thing on the car I thought, no one can hear it. Its like a go-cart horn.

I bought a large horn, very cheap. Haven't installed it yet....other problems at the moment.

I just got a dual note Nissan horn out of a junkyard and combined it with my stock horn to give me a sound I like to describe as "angry & European". It definitely turns heads.

If you're buying new horns, I would suggest one of these plus one of these.
