Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Just to repeat a little reminder, when pumping gasoline into the vehicle, if there no other problems preventing the gas from going in, "When the fuel nozzle shuts off, STOP putting any more fuel in. Many charcoal canisters get destroyed from using the "top off" procedure.
Like everything else, when asked if the owner fills the tank to round off the $ amount, until it wont take anymore, the reply is usually ,Oh no, I don't do that !

I found that the most likely cause is contamination of the carbon canister that is the heart of the car's evaporative emissions system.

its your charcoal canister located by tank it’s clogged I had same problem. If you go under to gas tank and feel your fuel lines it should feel like there’s a bunch of rocks in it if this is case you need a new canister I actually removed all charcoal out of existing canister a year ago despite what others say I’ve had no issues at all and I can pump full tank gas no prob. So either get a knew one or take off take apart and make sure you rid it completely of all brocken charcoal beads along with the ones in fuel lines

[QUOTE=lantra2000;10376]New to the page. I checked those who have Accent cars they are having the problem that I am now experincing. I have 2000 Elantra, which just before the summer it stated this. I thought it was the pump, , gas station, even bought new gas cap. I even waited for a pump that others were using and was having no problems. I did.
It takes me forever to pump and now it would not take more than 10.00

please help -- any ideas what wrong[/QUOTE

MOST DEF WITHOUT QUESTION CHARCOAL CANISTER SAME ISSUE I JUST CLEANED OUT AND RID CANISTER OF ALL CHARCOAL BUT IMPORTANT THERE WILL BE CHARCOAL BEADS IN YOUR FUEL LINES BY TANK YOU CAN SQUEEZE AND FEEL THEM SO EITHER CLEAN IT OUT OR REPLACE WITH KNEW SOME SAY YOU CANT CLEAN BUT I DID TEO YEARS AGO STIL NOT ONE ISSUE AND I STILL CAN FILL MY TANK ONLY REASON YOU NEED ONE IS IF YOU NEED FOR INSPECTION THEN YOUR SCREWED HAVE TO BUY NEW OR USED

There is a funny thing that happens to control some of what we suggest.
People who work in the field are held responsible for disabling ANY emission controls and face a hefty fine. Therefore if a replacement is suggested, that is acceptable but dismantling or complete removal is suggested and that is determined , the last I learned the fine starts at around $10,000 per occurrence So you will never see me suggest disabling any type emission device. This policy may vary in different locations, but in the U.S. it is national.

To confirm, just ask any dealership service dept.

I want to thank all who have posted solutions to the fuel fill problem. I replaced my charcoal canister with one from Rock Auto. Although not exactly the same (small hose nipple too small for the hose, had to use a clamp) it solved the problem of slow to fill fuel tank. 2003 Elantra.
