Rear Shock absorber access 2008
Just successfully and easily replaced my front strut assembly and moving on to rear shocks which should be easier. BUT all the tutorial/instructions I've seen don't mention if I am going to need to remove rear seat to access any bolts. Can old shock be removed only removing the wheel well bolts? Any other helpful advice appreciated. 2008 Elantra 165,000 miles
Thanks allegretto. Video applies to previous generation Elantra. 2008 is even more simple as it is just a shock absorber with separate springs. I answered my own question by just doing it. Job is simple. Loosen bottom bolt of shock absorber. (19 mm). From wheel well loosen top bolts which are screwed into fixed threads. Total of 3 bolts. If top mount is ok unscrew old shock and put new one on. Long story short... You don't need to remove seats for access like some other vehicles. Probably best to do front and rear at same time and then get alignment done.
