weird clutch

Hey all

I have a 2005 Elantra GT that I just bought with 97k on it. I have driven stick all my life and this clutch is by far the smoothest, but also feels as if it is slipping.

Unlike any other cars and trucks I have owned (Japanese, European & Domestic), I rev to 2500 RPMs, drop the clutch, and from full stop the car does not peel out but picks up speed very, very gradually until it is full engaged in gear. This was just a test of the emergency systems, as my driving style is not like that. I actually also revved it to about 4000 RPMS, dropped the clutch, and it felt as if it I were slipping the clutch, my foot on the gas pedal in the same exact position and the RPMS went OVER 4000. In my opinion, it is causing too much friction.

Is this just the check valve? If I drive like my grandmother, will the car be my friend?

Will do!

With that restrictor valve gone, and an F1 Stage 1 Clutch in it, can I expect a huge change? With this restrictor gone, will there be significantly more wear and tear on the tranny?

P.S. is this the check valve I read about in another post? :

I totally appreciate the pics, I will be printing them out and showing them to my mechanic once i have enough money to change the clutch.

No, it only affects rate of fluid flow back to master when you let off pedal, the small hole makes fluid return slowly to the master, so there is more slip until clutch locks up... remember you stated you revved engine up and dropped clutch and it spun for bit till it locked up...

Yes

Take it out and toss it in the can

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which clutch manufacturer is best for Hyundai?

F1 is the cheapo choice.....

But as far as I know OEM does not hold up, even to non-spirited driving...

clutch

did this fix ur problem? My sister has a 2002 Hyundai Elantra 5 speed. The slave cylinder, the clutch and the master cylinder were all replaced recently. The car started making a strange humming noise. Then we had to really step on the pedal to get it to start. Then it started reving real high when shifting and now it wont start at all unless u put it in neutral and push a little switch behind the pedal. Once started though it wont move. Any suggestions?

This mod is excellent. It did help a lot, but I can't imagine that this will fix the issue you are having. I PMed you, this threat is over two years old!
