Default Brake light modifications

Sorry for being a post hog here, but this site needs some more action. I don't see a lot of action on the Edmunds boards either, so unless someone can redirect me to another "pub", I'm hanging out here. Now to my question:

I am not a fan of having such a small brake light on either side, given the rear light stack is sooooo huge. Does anyone know:

1. can the wires be readjusted to allow all three bulbs to come on when the brakes are touched? I'm assuming the answer is yes, since I see a lot of Ford Mustang owners turning their rear lights into three consecutive flashing turn signals.
2. will doing #1 void my warranty?

I just hate it when car manufacturers get cute with the brake lights. Toyota was the worst with the Camry back in the 90's when they had these little brake lights on the outer edge of the horizontal housing (pathetic and dangerous).

Your thoughts?

I'm not sure about re-wiring, but just to note that the Ford Mustang consecutive light turn-signal is factory and not a modification. They thought it would hearken back to some earlier model that did that.

Which was the '68 Mercury Cougar if I remember correctly.
