Hey guys,

I bought my I30 at the start of the year second hand, its an 09 model, with just over 55000kms. Recently, probably the last 4 months i've been hearing a loud bang, coming from the rear of my car, it happens occasionally when i'm breaking or at a complete stop (if its a complete stop generally 30 seconds after stopping), but generally only happens when i'm at a 1/4 of a tank of petrol or less... It's quite scary as the bang sounds like someone is hitting you from behind! I've no idea what the noise is, initially i thought spare tyre not being in properly, not that, nothing to do with the back seats either....

Anyone else had this problem??? I'm getting desparate to fix it!

 

Go bact to the dealer. It should be still under the factory warranty.

 

I have a 2009 i30 that also has a rear bang on breaking which can happen frequently in one day or not at all for a few weeks. I too thought I had been bumped in the rear when it first happened. It can happen while the engine is running or when car has been turned off and parked in the garage and up to 30 secs later. There is nothing that I can link to it. I have been fobbed off by the mechanics. They want me to make it happen so then can hear it but of course I cannot make it happen on cue. I have been driving this car for nearly 2 years with this problem. If anyone has worked out what it is, please tell. I am fast running out of warranty

 

Give the dealer the car with 1/4 tank of gas for a couple of days. Have them give you a loaner. They should find it then
