Default Liftgate pull handle falls out

My dealer replaced the lower plastic panel on the liftgate (hatch) that the pull handle goes into. The repair was done under warranty. Supposedly a clip on the panel was broken. Closing the liftgate caused the panel to pop loose on the right side, thus popping out the little liftgate pull handle. When popped loose, there was a half inch gap between the panel and the metal of the liftgage. When I re-installed the pull handle it would never stay in. It has been 2 days since the repair and so far the problem appears to be fixed.

Update; so far so good. The panel is staying in and so is the pull handle.

I never use the handle. Maybe I should try to get it to fall out while it is still covered.

I don't use the handle either but using the handle doesn't cause it to fall out. From my experience, the cup handle falls out whenever I open the hatch, so I assume that it must be the force of closing the hatch that shakes the cup handle loose causing it to fall out the next time you open the hatch. My handle probably falls out 1 out of 5 times I use the back hatch. So maybe every 3-4 weeks. It's very annoying when it happens but I will replace mine when I have time to take it in. Maybe next oil change or something since I received some freebie oil change coupons from the dealer when I bought my 2010 last year.

I have the handle falling out issue as well. Dealer today ordered a new panel after having tried three times with a new cup. I'll let you know if this fixes it.
